Well, I am way past 39 weeks, baby Case is here!, but I have to go back a few posts to document everything. I have been so bad about updating, but we have been a tad busy around here :) Here is a pic of me at 39 weeks (May 19, 2011)
We had a doctors appointment this day and she expected me to deliver in the next week. She didn't think we would make it to my induction date (June 1) and she guessed that he weighed 6.5 pounds. I was still feeling pretty good, except for my swollen ankles! I worked the day before (Tuesday) and everyone was guessing that they would not see me again before I delivered!
My grandma had come in town for a dentist appointment so we all went to dinner at Babes (it is amazing, we had fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and amazing biscuits) My mom had warned my Grandma to bring extra clothes just in case I went in to labor, but she didn't listen...
Well that night, around 10pm I started having contractions. They weren't regular, but, they lasted most of the night. We were up all night, walking and timing. It was funny, I had this pattern in our house that I would walk and Caney was right there with me! I had an app on my iphone that was very handy to time the contractions.
Around 4am, things seemed to be picking up a little bit and my contractions were a little more regular, about 6-10 min apart. They were not very uncomfortable though so I wasn't sure if this was it or not. I decided to call in to work, didn't want to have the baby at work :) plus if this wasn't it, I was just exhausted from being up all night! I tried to get some sleep and was able to rest until about 7 or 8, when the contractions started to wake me up! They still weren't that painful, just enough to catch your breath a little. They were about 4-5 min apart, the doc had told us to go to the hospital when they were 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute for at least an hour. Chris was convinced we needed to head to the hospital right NOW! But, I wasn't so sure yet :) I didn't want to get there and be told to go back home! So, we waited it out a while longer. I wanted the house to be perfect and laundry to be done when we got home with the baby, so I had Chris doing that while I got all dolled up!
This is Chris doing laundry and calling everyone to let them know Case was on the way!
I took a shower, shaved my legs, put on make up, curled my hair, and painted my nails all while timing my contractions, haha, but please understand my contractions were nothing compared to what they were when we got to the hospital!
Here I am walking to keep those contractions going!
On Friday (May 21), my mom and I had planned to get a pedicure so my toes were hideous, so I had Chris paint them for me!
By this time, contractions were very regular and lasted at least 1 minute, so I gave in and we headed to the hospital! It was 1:19pm on Thursday May 19, 2011.
To Be Continued...
