I am feeling overwhelmed by how behind I am on blog posts so the next few posts are going to be overviews of our life lately!

May 20, 2011

We live really close to the hospital, so, it didn't take us long to get there. Thank goodness! Once we got to registration, my contractions were starting to get more intense. When we got to a room, the nurse that was checking us in said that we had to make sure I was really in labor!?! The plan was for them to monitor me and then call my doctor and she would decided if I stayed or if they sent me home! What! I was going to be really upset if they would have sent me home, these contractions were not funny business anymore! When they checked me, I was still 3 cm dilated, the same as the day before, a little disappointing but I just knew this was it! Not long after, the nurse called Dr B and we got the word that we were staying!! We made all the necessary phone calls. Chris' parents headed up from Houston.

Not long after Dr B decided it was time to have Case, they offered me my epidural! I was a little nervous (remembering that needle from nursing school), but the experience was great. The nurse anesthetist was wonderful. I didn't feel anything! After I got the epidural, labor was a breeze! I felt nothing, I legs were totally numb!

I started progressing quickly then things slowed. The nurses started me on pitocin and we were back on track. The nurses were amazing!! It helped that my nurse was a Tech grad!

Our great friends the McCrady's stopped by. It was wonderful having them there to experience this with us. They will soon be doing the same. Molly will be here in October! You can read Jen's account of the evening here.

When we started out on this journey, the nurses predicted he would be here by 10pm. Well, 10pm came and went. My water had never broken, this is most likely was the cause of the delay.

Here I am waiting...

Finally, around midnight, the nurse came to check me and my water broke! I was 9.5 cm at this time, almost there!

Not soon after, It was time to start pushing! My mom and Chris stayed in the room with me while everyone headed out to the lobby for the waiting game! Dr B finally got there, it was great to see her, this meant we were finally going to have this baby. For all you Momma's to be out there, don't be alarmed when your doc doesn't show up until it is go time! I had such an amazing nurse, Karen, she was THE BEST! She was so calming and answered all of our stupid questions, she even gave Jen a list of nurses to ask for when Molly is on the way.

At 2:18 am Case Christopher was born.

7 pounds 9.5 ounces

20 1/4 inches

Beautiful!

Daddy love!

Footprint time!

We will have this shirt forever.

Proud dad

Bringing Case to me for the first time. Dr B couldn't give him to me right away, Case's cord was around his neck a few times and they needed to evaluate him first. He was perfect though, Thank you, God!

The next day, Chris' parents spent most of the morning with us and Jen came by!

That evening, my grandma, Aunt Kecia, cousin Jared, cousin Ali, Aunt Kim, and her husband Dale came to visit from Shreveport and Houston. It was wonderful having them there. Everyone was so excited to finally meet our little guy.

Late that night Chris' brother's family came to visit. They drove from Houston and arrived around midnight, what a late night for them!

Case was born early on a Friday morning and we ended up going home the next day, Saturday. We were so ready! It is hard to sleep in the hospital, seems like someone is coming in every few minutes. Here are Chris and Case getting ready to go home, Chris looks a little tired :)

My mom and I got Case's outfit at the Polo outlet, it is so cute!

Finally home!

Our first family photo!! (with the dogs :))
